This is another medical scholarship scheme designed basically for international medical students to study on a fully funded scholarship program for a Bachelor of Medical Science or a postgraduate research degree at the University of Auckland in New Zealand on yearly bases.

This medical scholarship is an Award of up to $10,000 for MBChB students enrolling part-time or full-time in a BMedSci(Hons) or postgraduate research degree in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences before completing their MBChB.

 

ELIGIBILITY & REGULATIONS FOR THE MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP

Below are the rules guiding the University of Auckland John Hamel MacGregor Award in Medical Science medical scholarship:

1. The Awards will be known as the John Hamel MacGregor Awards in Medical Science.
2. There will be up to five awards. Each Award will be tenable for one academic year and will be of value up to $10,000. Part-time students will be paid pro rata.
3. The Awards will be available to students undertaking a medical degree at the University of Auckland who are enrolled and who have paid the fees or arranged to pay the fees, for the Degree of Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) or for a postgraduate research degree offered by the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland before completing their MBChB.
4. The Trust will be administered by the Trustees, who will consist of:(a) the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Auckland (or nominee); (b) the Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (or nominee); (c) one other member of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
5. At least fifty percent of the distributable income of the Trust will be to assist students holding New Zealand citizenship.
6. The amount of the Award to each student will be determined by the Trustees, who will take into account the following factors: (a) the academic potential of the applicants;
   (b) the academic merits of the research proposals;
   (c) the financial need of the applicants.
7. The Awards will be made by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Trustees.
8. The University of Auckland Council is not obliged to make an award if in any year there are no candidates of sufficient merit.
9. Applications close with the Scholarships Office on 1 November in the year preceding the year of the award
